Strait Regional Centre for Education Students Compete at Canada-Wide Science Fair 2018; Dr. J.H. Gillis Regional High School Student, Ozan Ürkmez, Earns Bronze Medal

Congratulations to our four students, Lyza Ells, Ozan Ürkmez, Caroline MacKeen and Taylor Smith who represented the Strait Regional Centre for Education extremely well at the Canada Wide Science Fair held at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, from May 19 to 21, 2018.

Special congratulations to Ozan Ürkmez who earned a Bronze Medal and a special award that will see him attend a workshop for young physicists in Waterloo, Ontario.

There were approximately 430 students competing from all provinces and territories of Canada as well as projects from Mexico, Taiwan and Thailand. In addition to the judging, the students had the opportunity to engage in conversations with fellow scientists and learn from experts in the field.
