Information to Parents/Guardians and Students Regarding The Transition Process Back from Work to Rule

January 23, 2017

The Strait Regional School Board is very pleased that the Government and the Nova Scotia Teachers Union have reached a tentative agreement and that as part of this agreement work to rule action has been suspended as of Monday, January 23, 2017.

For your information, we are working closely with school administration to address issues related to the transition process back from work to rule.  This process will require a review of priorities and a reasonable pace in which to fully implement them. Everything will not automatically revert back to what it was prior to December 5, 2016.  In some instances, we may be able to return to previous practices but there also may be opportunities to make improvements.

Changes to bus pick-up times and routes implemented during work to rule remain in effect.  Specific changes will be communicated to affected students and parents/guardians through your local school.

Supervision of students will be in place 20 minutes before classes start and 20 minutes after classes end.  Please do not drop off/pick up students outside this timeframe as there will be no supervision.

Additional information will be shared with you as it becomes available.

Thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation.
