H.M. MacDonald Elementary School Celebrates National Police Week

As part of the school’s celebration of National Police Week, May 15 to 21, 2016, Grades Primary to 6 students attending H.M. MacDonald Elementary School in Maryvale enjoyed the outdoors on Thursday, May 19, 2016, while learning about the role, and many services, of the RCMP.

H.M. MacDonald Elementary School Principal Jason Dayman explained that students were able to speak with members of the RCMP and see first-hand some of the many services they provide including:

  • RCMP Helicopter;
  • RCMP Canine Services with the police dog, Bo;
  • RCMP Boat and Off-road Vehicle Enforcement;
  • RCMP Traffic Unit; and
  • Partners including the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the Sheriff’s Department.

This event was arranged in partnership with the school's RCMP Liaison officer, Cst. Morgan MacPherson.

Sincere thanks to all organizers especially to all of the members of the RCMP who took the time to visit the school today, and to connect and share with students the important role of the RCMP in our local communities.
