East Antigonish Education Centre/Academy Celebrates National Police Week

As part of the school’s celebration of National Police Week, Grades Primary to 12 students attending East Antigonish Education Centre/Academy in Monastery enjoyed the outdoors today, Thursday, May 14, 2015, while learning about the role, and many services, of the RCMP.

East Antigonish Education Centre/Academy Principal Janice Gough explained that throughout the morning students were able to speak with members of the RCMP and see first-hand some of the many services they provide including:

- RCMP Helicopter (from Moncton)
- RCMP Tactical Team
- RCMP Forensic Identification Services
- RCMP Canine Services with the police dog, Bo
- Off-road Vehicle Enforcement
- RCMP boat

This event was arranged by the school's RCMP Liaison officer, Cst. Morgan MacPherson, in partnership with the Paqtnkek First Nation community and East Antigonish Education Centre/Academy Principal Janice Gough.

Sincere thanks to all organizers especially to all of the members of the RCMP who took the time to visit the school today, and to connect and share with students the important role of the RCMP in our local communities.
